Elda B. Hoyt

September 27, 1927 - March 11, 2011

Elda B. Hoyt, 83, of rural Avalon (Johnstown township) died at her home on Friday, March 11, 2011. Elda was born on September 27, 1927, at home in Johnstown Town-ship on the same farmstead where she passed away, the daughter of Albert F. and Elda (Barnett) Pinnow. She graduated from Milton Union High School, Milton College and received a Master’s Degree from UW-Madison. While attending Milton College, Elda worked in the office of I. G. Hall Implement. Elda taught home economics, consumer education and citizenship for 38 years. She began teaching at Union Grove, WI, later at Racine, WI and for 31 years at Fort Atkinson, WI. Elda was a member of Rock Prairie United Presbyterian Church where she formerly taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was a member of the Milton College Alumni Association. She was long active in 4-H as a leader, on the 4-H executive board, the 4-H state council and served as Johnstown club chairperson. She enjoyed attending 4-H senior council meeting for many years. Above all else, Elda enjoyed teaching in her activities with 4-H.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd E. Hoyt, whom she married on October 31, 1965, 1 son, Lloyd W. Hoyt of rural Avalon, 1 brother, Albert F. (Virginia) Pinnow Jr. of Belvidere, IL, brother-in-law, Niles Hoyt of Rockford, IL, sister-in-law, Bernadine Pike of Colorado Springs, CO, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother -in-law, Walter and Vida Hoyt, 2 sisters-in-law, Inez Pinnow and Marie B. Hoyt, 2 nieces, Penny Hoyt and Mary Pike.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville. Pastor Jamie Swanson will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Johnstown Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.www.henkeclarson.com.
